Our purpose in ministering to children is to call them and equip them to live a life of wholehearted devotion to Jesus. We want to create an environment where they can experience God’s love for them through personal encounters with Him by His Holy Spirit. We want them to know His word, to know His presence, to know His power and to be bold in their determination to lay down their lives for His kingdom. They must have the first commandment in first place from an early age.
We provide help to those in need within the body of Christ and the local community with whom we have relationship. We feel the heart of God is revealed to us in James 1:27: 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress. The Vineyard Café, operating under the Mercy Ministry, runs once a month and provides a hot meal following the Sunday morning service. Many friends from the streets surrounding the church join us for this meal. We also keep a well-stocked pantry to provide hampers of food for those who are in our circle of friends and are less fortunate. Caring for the poor and the lonely and interacting with them as friends and people of dignity are high values of the church.
We want to encourage ministry that fosters connection and care within the congregation. This is done by modelling a life of hospitality within the community, welcoming people and paying attention to their needs, in ways that impart God’s grace and blessing. We try to offer care to a variety of people, rich and poor, young and old, ethnically diverse…in a variety of life situations. In the Brandon area, we have experienced unprecedented growth in immigration. Much of our foreign mission work is now being conducted in our own city.
